The Green Mango Story

Green Mango, a renowned restaurant with a rich history, was founded by owner and chef Hai Nguyen. After training in Bangkok and working as head chef for famous restaurateur Bobby Chinn, Hai opened the first Green Mango in 2004 on Cat Ba Island.

The restaurant's success led to a second location in Hanoi's Old Quarter on Hang Quat Street in 2007, quickly becoming a favorite among locals, expats, and tourists. Known for its exceptional cuisine and warm ambiance, Green Mango hosted numerous events and fundraising galas, fostering a sense of community.

In 2011, the restaurant relocated to Hoi An, where it has become an institution, renowned for its cooking classes and famous happy hour cocktails.

Today, Green Mango continues to be a culinary destination, offering a blend of traditional Vietnamese flavors and innovative dishes. With its rich history and dedication to excellence, Green Mango invites guests to experience the vibrant world of Vietnamese gastronomy and create lasting memories.

Green Mango Hanoi in the heart of the Old Quarter

At Green Mango, our commitment to sustainability runs deep, rooted in our origins on Cat Ba Island, a UNESCO recognised biosphere reserve, and home to the critically endangered Cat Ba Langur. We recognize the importance of preserving the natural beauty and ecological balance of this remarkable island, and we strive to incorporate sustainable practices into every aspect of our operations.

One of our core principles is to source our food locally, whenever possible. By partnering with local farmers and suppliers, we support the community, reduce our carbon footprint, and offer our guests the freshest ingredients.

You can support our initiatives by purchasing a Green Mango Tshirt for US$10, which directly supports the Cat Ba Langur Conservation project.

Thank you for your support of our “Say No To Plastic Straws” project. Please talk to our staff if you would like to purchase your own stainless steel straw for your journey in Vietnam. Straws cost US$1.00/piece for full-size and US$0.80/piece for short-size.
